Abbotsbury Swannery

Brian and I joined Sue and Malcolm on a short break in Dorset at the end of April where we stayed at the Maritime Hotel. It was an amazing hotel and none of us had ever stayed anywhere quite like it.  As we drove up we did wonder where we were going to be staying as the building appeared to be on an Industrial Estate.  The area was very bleak with the lighthouses in the distance. The building was very plain looking.     Once inside and we had checked in we discovered that the building had once been the Royal Navy's secret weapons laboratory.
The inside of the hotel was very modern with plastic plants (ughh), lots of buddhas, and candles.  The dining room was rather nice with glass on three sides jutting out over the front of the hotel.  There was a pleasant roof garden terrace on top of the dining room.  Importantly the rooms were spacious, modern and comfortable.
However, we did feel that the hotel could have made more of its very interesting history.  Some photos of its past life and the people who worked there.
For the full day in the area we went to visit Abbotsbury Swannery.   We were there at feeding time, so all the swans were congregating in one area all the time we were there.

Can you spot the odd one out?
