Australia October 2017 - Sunday afternoon at Glenelg and last day

Image
It was a very chilly and blustery afternoon, so no photo's of the front at Glenelg, but here are some I took when we were all eating and drinking various sweet concoctions. On my last morning, Amy invited us to visit her at her new job - she works at the brand new Holiday Inn in Adelaide. Leaving for the airport That's it. I had the most wonderful time with my sister Pauline and her family. Thank you all, and especially Pauline and Peter.  Now need to save up for my next visit.

Australia Trip October 2017 - Last few hours in Cairns

Image
Pauline and I spent our last night in Cairns at Yorkey's Knob with our Niece, Karen and her two daughters.    We enjoyed a very nice meal at the Boat club.   View from our balcony at night. The following four photos were not taken on our last night, but a previous evening walk-about.  So, how neat is this - a swimming pool in the High Street? Plus free Barbecue's and tables to eat at. View from our balcony on the last morning - see the big ship arriving? Coming in to Adelaide Next - just a few photo's of family tea at Glenelg before I left for home.

Australia October 2017 - Sky Rail from Kuranda

Image
I have a fear of heights - from the time I went on a school trip to the monument where the Great Fire of London started.  Before that, I was not aware of a fear of heights when I think back to some of the things I did as a child.  However, the Sky Rail was booked,so there was no option really - I had to go on it. I did actually quite enjoy it, although at one point I was facing backwards in one of the 'cars' and felt a bit nauseous.  The young man sitting opposite very kindly offered to change places with me, and I was so grateful. Our carriage awaits This is the river we walked along briefly where we saw the passenger boat We got off the 'car' here and went to the viewing point to see this waterfall Going down Almost down  Next - last night in Cairns

Australia 2017 - Kuranda and Butterfly farm

Image
On arrival at Kuranda, Pauline and I decided that it would be good to walk into the town via the short scenic route.   There was also a long route which I am glad we decided not to take;  the short route was far longer than we expected, although it was a pretty route and interesting. This is the Sky Rail (gulp - we're going back down on that!) When I took this picture I thought it would be rather nice to travel back on this passenger boat - don't think it went that far though. I wonder why I took a photo of a log with a hole in the middle? We've arrived in Kuranda So exhausted we quicklyfound somewhere for lunch The butterfly farm Next - The Sky Rail back down
